About
The project
Being part of the New Traveller community myself, when I became an anthropology student in 2016 I noted that not much had been written about the group in anthropology, particularly in recent years. This led me to plan a project exploring the lives and culture of this community today.
The exhibition
Not long after my project began, the Government began to put forward the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. In response to this, I saw New Travellers educating the public, about who they were and how the criminalisation of trespass would affect their lifestyle, through social media and direct activism. I decided building a virtual exhibition relating to my DPhil project could be a way to add to this, as well as an opportunity to celebrate our culture.
